to our City of Liverpool. In 2011, Liverpool represents a modern,
vibrant, dynamic and multicultural city and the perfect venue to host an
international conference of this magnitude. Please download our

Scientific Programme: New Horizons from a World Heritage City
We have
built an enviable congress programme covering the full range of
disciplines in Sport and Exercise Sciences. We have attracted an eminent
team of international speakers from Europe and around the globe to
deliver our Plenary and Invited Symposia and as ever the Young
Investigator Awards will be a key highlight of the Congress. For latest
detail on the programme please visit
our congress website.
Congress Venue
ECSS 2011
will take place in the brand new state of the art BT Convention Centre
on the banks of the River Mersey. This is a magnificent facility that
will allow us to deliver an unrivalled and highly effective conference
experience for both presenters and delegates. The convention centre is
set within the heart of the city centre and a close walk to all hotels,
restaurants and bars and the world-class museums. Please visit
http://www.btconventioncentre.com/coming/index.asp for details of
the congress venue.
Social Programme
The Opening
Reception will be held in the Convention Centre on Wednesday evening and
the Closing Banquet in the Anglican Cathedral on Saturday night. We
will provide delegates with information about the many cultural and
sporting experiences available in and around the City of Liverpool. For
example there are many attractions focused on the musical and the
sporting heritage of the city. Please visit

City of Liverpool
Liverpool
was the European Capital of Culture in 2008. It is a great city to
visit. Apart from the many tourist attractions, Liverpool boasts an
extensive array of social networking venues and an expansive range of
nightlife options for the congress delegate. These are all located
within walking distance of the Convention Centre and the hotels.
Travel
Liverpool is
a very easy city to travel to. Liverpool John Lennon Airport is a few
miles south of the centre and receives direct flights from all over
Europe. Please see
www.liverpoolairport.com for the range of carriers that fly direct.
Liverpool airport is a 15 minute bus or taxi journey to the Convention
Centre. For intercontinental delegates, Manchester Airport (www.manchesterairport.co.uk)
is 60 min away by train or 40 min by taxi.
Liverpool is
connected to London by high speed trains which make the 180 mile journey
